How Custom Pet Portraits Work

Boone & Tail turns a favorite photo into a custom digital watercolor-style pet portrait, professionally printed on canvas or as a framed poster. You can include one pet or two together.

1. Choose your portrait

Select one or two pets, a finish, and a size. Canvas offers soft texture and gallery depth; the matte framed poster arrives in a slim black wood frame. Your chosen price includes standard U.S. shipping.

2. Upload their photo

Use a clear, well-lit original photo showing the eyes, ears, face, and markings. For two pets, send one photo of them together or a photo of each. Add their names and any details we should not miss. Our photo guide can help you choose.

3. We create and check the artwork

We create the signature peekaboo portrait digitally in our watercolor style, using your photo and notes. We check the likeness and identifying details. If a photo is too blurry or a detail needs clarification, we will contact you. There is no separate customer proof or approval step.

4. Straight to professional printing

We send the checked artwork directly for professional printing. We work to get your portrait on its way as quickly as possible; most orders ship within 3–5 days of purchase.

5. Follow it home

When the finished portrait ships, we email you a tracking link. Standard U.S. shipping generally takes about 3–4 business days after dispatch. Estimated U.S. delivery is 6–10 business days from purchase; this is an estimate, not a guaranteed date. Weekends, holidays, photo questions, production changes, and carrier delays can add time.
